Crispy smash burgers made with juicy beef patties, melty cheese, toasted buns, and classic burger toppings for a restaurant-style homemade burger.
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4 burger buns
4 slices cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons butter
Lettuce
Tomato slices
Pickles
Thinly sliced onions
Burger sauce or mayonnaise
Instructions
1. Divide beef into loose balls.
2. Heat skillet until very hot.
3. Smash patties thin on skillet.
4. Flip and melt cheese on top.
5. Toast buns and assemble burgers.
Notes
Use cast iron for best crust.
Do not overwork the beef.
Smash only once.
Serve immediately while hot.
