Description
Flaky and golden rustic French apple tart loaded with sliced apples, sweet sugar, melted butter, and a glossy apricot preserve glaze.
Ingredients
Tart Dough:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour plus 1 tablespoon
pinch salt
12 tablespoons unsalted butter (cold) cut into 1/2-inch pieces, plus 2 tablespoons melted
⅓ cup ice water
Apple Tart:
3 ½ tablespoons sugar divided
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
4 large apples peeled, cored and cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
2 tablespoons apricot preserves melted
1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter meltedE
Instructions
1. Combine flour and salt, cut in cold butter, add ice water to form dough, and chill for 45 minutes.
2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), line a sheet with parchment, and roll dough into a 12-inch circle.
3. Sprinkle dough center with 1 tbsp flour and 1 1/2 tbsp sugar; arrange sliced apples in overlapping circles leaving a 2-inch border.
4. Fold crust edges over apples, brush fruit with 1 1/2 tbsp melted butter, and sprinkle with remaining 2 tbsp sugar.
5. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until pastry is deep golden brown and apples are tender.
6. Brush warm apples with melted apricot preserves immediately and cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Keep butter cold for flaky layers. Brush apricot preserves over warm tart for a bakery-gloss finish.
