Description
Flaky and golden bakery-style pear turnovers filled with spiced diced pears and drizzled with a rich vanilla cream glaze.
Ingredients
For the Turnovers:
1 lb puff pastry 2 sheets thawed according to package instructions
1 Tbsp all-purpose flour for dusting
1 1/4 lb Pears 3 medium peeled, cored and diced into 1/3″ thick pieces
1 Tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ginger
1/8 tsp salt
1 egg+ 1 Tbsp water for egg wash
For the Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1–2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Sauté diced pears in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, and salt for 6 to 8 minutes until tender; cool completely.
2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), line a baking sheet with parchment, dust counter with flour, and cut thawed puff pastry sheets into 8 squares.
3. Spoon 2 tbsp cooled filling onto each square, brush edges with egg wash, fold into triangles, and crimp edges with a fork.
4. Place on baking sheet, cut 2 steam slits in tops, brush with egg wash, and bake at 400°F for 20 to 22 minutes until golden brown.
5. Whisk powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
6. Drizzle vanilla cream glaze generously over warm turnovers before serving.
Notes
Cool pear filling completely before assembling. Crimp edges firmly with a fork to prevent leaking.
