Description
Rich and gooey maple walnut pie loaded with toasted walnut pieces, pure maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a flaky crust.
Ingredients
1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust (see notes for recipe link)
1 ½ cups walnut pieces (131g or 4 ¾-ounces)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly (42g)
3 large eggs
⅓ cup light brown sugar, packed (67g)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 ¼ cups maple syrup (388g or 13 ¾-ounces)
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), fit pie dough into a 9-inch pie plate, crimp edges, and chill in refrigerator.
2. Whisk eggs, brown sugar, and flour in a large bowl until smooth.
3. Whisk in maple syrup, melted butter, salt, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
4. Scatter walnut pieces across the bottom of the chilled pie crust.
5. Pour maple custard mixture gently over the walnuts.
6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes until edges are set with a slight center jiggle; cool completely for 3 hours before slicing.
Notes
Use 100% pure maple syrup. Cool pie completely for at least 3 hours before slicing so custard sets.
