Description

Tender honey baked apples roasted with cinnamon, cloves, fresh lemon juice, and pure honey, served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

5 medium apples

1 tablespoon lemon juice (use fresh lemon juice, not bottled)

⅓ cup honey

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground cloves

vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.

2. Core 5 apples leaving bottoms intact, score top skins lightly, and place upright in dish.

3. Whisk 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice, 1/3 cup honey, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp ground cloves in a bowl.

4. Spoon spiced honey mixture into hollow cavities and drizzle over tops.

5. Bake uncovered at 375°F for 35 to 45 minutes until fork-tender.

6. Baste with pan juices and serve warm with optional vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Leave bottom of apple intact when coring. Score skins to prevent bursting during baking.
