Homemade vanilla ice cream made with cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla for a rich and creamy classic frozen dessert.
Ingredients
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup milk
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 egg yolks optional
Instructions
1. Heat milk and sugar until warm.
2. Whisk egg yolks.
3. Temper eggs with warm milk.
4. Cook until slightly thickened.
5. Add vanilla and salt.
6. Cool mixture completely.
7. Whip cream to soft peaks.
8. Fold together.
9. Freeze until firm.
10. Serve.
Notes
Use full-fat cream for best texture.
Chill base before freezing.
Do not overwhip cream.
Let soften before scooping.
