Description

Homemade BBQ baked beans slow baked with smoky, sweet BBQ sauce, molasses, and spices for a hearty side dish.


Ingredients

Scale

3 cans navy beans drained

1 cup BBQ sauce

1/2 cup ketchup

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup molasses

1 onion chopped

2 cloves garlic minced

1 tablespoon mustard

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup water


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Mix sauce ingredients.

3. Add onion and garlic.

4. Stir in beans.

5. Transfer to baking dish.

6. Add water.

7. Cover and bake.

8. Uncover and finish baking.

9. Rest before serving.

Notes

Bake longer for thicker beans.

Use maple syrup instead of molasses if desired.

Add heat with chili flakes.

Great for make-ahead meals.
