Soft and buttery chocolate babka filled with rich chocolate swirls and baked until golden brown.
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
1/2 cup warm milk
10 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
Instructions
1. Activate yeast in warm milk.
2. Mix dough ingredients.
3. Knead until smooth.
4. Let dough rise.
5. Prepare chocolate filling.
6. Roll dough into rectangle.
7. Spread filling and roll.
8. Slice and braid dough.
9. Place in loaf pan.
10. Rise again.
11. Bake until golden.
12. Brush with syrup and cool.
Notes
Chill rolled dough before braiding.
Use quality chocolate for best flavor.
Allow to cool before slicing.
Store covered for freshness.
