Description
Light, fluffy French beignets flavored with vanilla, fried golden and dusted with powdered sugar for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
Vegetable oil for frying
Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Whisk flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder together
2. Combine egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl
3. Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients until dough forms
4. Roll dough to ¼-inch thickness and cut into squares or rectangles
5. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry beignets 2–3 minutes per side
6. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar
Notes
Fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature
Dust immediately with powdered sugar
Optional: serve with chocolate or caramel sauce
