Ingredients
2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk
Extra sugar for rolling (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets.
2. Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
3. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add egg, vanilla, and milk; mix until combined.
5. Stir in dry ingredients until dough forms.
6. Roll tablespoon-sized balls and coat in sugar if desired.
7. Bake 8–10 minutes until edges set but centers remain soft.
8. Cool 5 minutes on sheet, then move to a wire rack.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for 5 days.
Freeze dough balls for up to 2 months.
Add lemon zest or almond extract for variety.
