Quick, elegant, and refreshing shrimp cocktail with tangy sauce — perfect appetizer for parties, holidays, or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 cups water
1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
1 lemon, sliced
2 garlic cloves, smashed
½ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Pinch of hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
1. In a large saucepan, combine water, Old Bay seasoning, lemon slices, and garlic. Bring to a boil.
2. Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until pink and opaque.
3. Drain shrimp and transfer to a bowl of ice water. Chill 10 minutes.
4. For the cocktail sauce, mix ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce.
5. Arrange shrimp around cocktail glasses or on a platter. Serve with chilled sauce.
6. Garnish with lemon wedges and parsley if desired.
Notes
Use fresh or properly thawed frozen shrimp.
Adjust horseradish and hot sauce to taste.
Make sauce a day ahead and refrigerate separately.
