Description
Saskatoon Berry Pie is sweet, slightly nutty, and baked in a flaky buttery crust. Perfect for summer or holiday dessert.
Ingredients
Crust:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
6–8 tablespoons ice water
Filling:
4 cups Saskatoon berries (fresh or frozen)
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
1. Combine flour, salt, sugar, and cut in butter.
2. Gradually add ice water to form dough, divide and chill.
3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
4. Roll out one disc, line pie pan.
5. Mix berries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, cinnamon; add to crust.
6. Roll second disc, cut lattice, place over filling, seal edges.
7. Brush top with milk or egg wash.
8. Bake 45–50 minutes until golden and bubbly. Cool before serving.
Notes
Use frozen berries if fresh are unavailable.
Sprinkle sugar on top for sweetness.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
