Description

Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls with bright orange flavor. Perfect for brunch, holidays, or a cozy morning treat.


Ingredients

1 cup warm milk

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon orange zest

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

23 tablespoons fresh orange juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.

2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter, egg, and salt. Add yeast mixture and gradually stir in flour to form soft dough.

3. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (1–1.5 hours).

4. Mix softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest for the filling.

5. Roll dough into a rectangle and spread filling evenly.

6. Roll tightly from long edge and slice into 12 rolls. Place in a greased baking pan.

7. Cover and let rise for 30–40 minutes until puffy.

8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.

9. Whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla to make glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

Use fresh orange juice and zest for best flavor.

Refrigerate shaped rolls overnight for fresh morning baking.

Store baked rolls in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Freeze unbaked rolls for up to 2 months.
