Soft maple cookies with brown butter icing are tender, chewy cookies topped with rich nutty icing for a comforting treat.
Ingredients
2½ cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
¾ cup unsalted butter softened
1 cup brown sugar packed
¼ cup pure maple syrup
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup unsalted butter
1½ cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line sheets
2. Mix dry ingredients
3. Cream butter and brown sugar
4. Add maple syrup, eggs, vanilla
5. Mix in dry ingredients
6. Scoop dough onto sheets
7. Bake 10–12 minutes
8. Cool on sheets then transfer
9. Melt butter for icing
10. Whisk in sugar, milk, syrup, vanilla
11. Drizzle over cookies
12. Let icing set before serving
Notes
Use room temperature butter
Chill dough for thicker cookies
Drizzle icing warm
Store in airtight container
