Description

Ingredients

1 cup warm milk (110°F)

2 teaspoons active dry yeast

¼ cup granulated sugar

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

3 cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon salt

Vegetable oil for frying

Optional toppings: cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, chocolate spread, fresh fruit slices


Instructions

1. Warm the milk and stir in yeast and sugar. Let sit 5 minutes.

2. Add melted butter and egg to the yeast mixture and stir well.

3. Mix in flour and salt until a soft dough forms.

4. Knead dough for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

5. Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour.

6. Divide dough into portions and stretch into ovals.

7. Heat oil to 350°F in deep pan.

8. Fry each piece 1–2 minutes per side until golden.

9. Drain on paper towels and add toppings while warm.
