Description

Fig and Goat Cheese Pinwheels are sweet, savory, and elegant appetizers made with puff pastry, creamy cheeses, and fresh or dried figs. Perfect for parties, brunch, or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

4 ounces goat cheese, softened

1/4 cup cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup fig jam

1/4 cup chopped fresh figs (or dried figs, finely chopped)

1 tablespoon honey (optional)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Fresh thyme or rosemary for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle.

3. In a small bowl, mix goat cheese, cream cheese, and chopped figs until smooth.

4. Spread fig jam evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border.

5. Spread the cheese mixture over the fig jam layer.

6. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the puff pastry into a log.

7. Slice the log into 1-inch pinwheels and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

8. Brush each pinwheel with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

9. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.

10. Drizzle with honey and garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Substitute figs with dates or apricots for a different fruity flavor.

Add a handful of chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) for crunch.

Make mini pinwheels for bite-sized hors d’oeuvres.

Use store-bought or homemade puff pastry based on preference.
