Description
Crispy Baked Mozzarella Sticks are golden, crunchy, and filled with gooey, melty cheese. Perfect for game day, movie nights, or a quick snack, they’re baked, not fried, for an easier, less messy treat.
Ingredients
12 mozzarella string cheese sticks (or 8-oz block mozzarella cut into sticks)
½ cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs, beaten
1 tbsp water
1½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs (or panko + Italian seasoning + garlic powder)
Cooking spray or a light drizzle of olive oil
Marinara sauce (or ranch) for dipping
Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. If using block mozzarella, cut into 3-4 inch sticks and chill briefly.
2. Set up three bowls: flour, beaten eggs + water, seasoned breadcrumbs.
3. Dredge each cheese stick: flour -> egg -> breadcrumbs. For extra crisp, double coat.
4. Freeze coated sticks for at least 30 minutes to prevent cheese leaks.
5. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment, lightly spray or drizzle oil.
6. Bake sticks 10-12 minutes, turning halfway, until golden and crispy.
7. Cool 1-2 minutes, then serve with marinara sauce or your favorite dip. Garnish with parsley.
Notes
Use block mozzarella for a better cheese pull.
Double coat with breadcrumbs for maximum crunch.
Freeze before baking to keep cheese from leaking.
Flavor the coating with garlic powder, paprika, or Parmesan for extra taste.
Assemble ahead and bake just before serving for best results.
