Description
Classic thumbprint cookies with buttery dough and sweet jam centers, soft, festive, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup granulated sugar
2 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup fruit jam or preserves
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment.
2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add egg yolks and vanilla, mix until smooth.
4. Stir in flour and salt to form a soft dough.
5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheets.
6. Press centers gently with your thumb to form wells.
7. Fill each with a small spoon of jam.
8. Bake 12–14 minutes until edges are golden.
9. Cool completely and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Store in airtight containers for up to 5 days.
Freeze baked cookies up to 2 months.
