Description

Ingredients

Torte:

8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

½ cup unsalted butter

1 cup sugar

4 eggs, separated

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ cup all-purpose flour

Ganache:

½ cup heavy cream

4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped

1 tablespoon butter

Optional Toppings:

Fresh berries

Cocoa powder

Chopped nuts


Instructions

1. Preheat oven and prepare springform pan.

2. Melt chocolate and butter.

3. Stir in sugar, egg yolks, vanilla, and salt.

4. Fold in flour.

5. Beat egg whites to stiff peaks.

6. Fold whites into chocolate mixture.

7. Pour batter into pan and bake.

8. Cool in pan, then remove.

9. Prepare ganache by heating cream and mixing with chocolate and butter.

10. Pour ganache over torte.

11. Garnish with berries or nuts.

12. Chill slightly before slicing.

Notes

Do not overbake torte.

Use high-quality chocolate.

Serve chilled or at room temperature.
