Moist and easy Chocolate Sheet Cake with rich cocoa flavor and buttery frosting.
Ingredients
Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup hot water
Frosting:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup milk
4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional: Chopped nuts or chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven and prepare pan.
2. Mix dry ingredients.
3. Combine wet ingredients.
4. Add wet to dry and mix.
5. Add hot water and combine.
6. Bake 30–35 minutes.
7. Prepare frosting by melting butter and whisking in cocoa and milk.
8. Add powdered sugar and vanilla.
9. Pour over warm cake.
10. Cool and slice.
Notes
Use high-quality cocoa.
Frost while cake is warm for glossy finish.
Add espresso powder for extra chocolate depth.
Store in airtight container.
