Description
Soft bakery-style chocolate chip muffins with golden tops and melty chocolate chips.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Optional coarse sugar for topping
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a muffin tin.
2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Whisk buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla in another bowl.
4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
5. Fold in chocolate chips.
6. Fill muffin cups near the top.
7. Sprinkle coarse sugar on top if desired.
8. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden.
9. Cool 5 minutes then transfer to rack.
Notes
Use room-temperature ingredients for soft muffins.
Do not overmix the batter.
Frozen chocolate chips can be added directly.
