Description
Classic chili con carne made with ground beef, beans, tomatoes, and bold spices. Pork-free, hearty, and perfect for cozy dinners.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb ground beef
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 can diced tomatoes (15 oz)
1 can kidney beans (15 oz), drained
1½ cups beef broth
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 bay leaf
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large pot.
2. Cook onion until softened.
3. Add garlic and cook briefly.
4. Brown ground beef completely.
5. Stir in tomato paste.
6. Add tomatoes, beans, and broth.
7. Add spices and bay leaf.
8. Bring to a boil.
9. Simmer uncovered 35–40 minutes.
10. Remove bay leaf.
11. Adjust seasoning and rest before serving.
Notes
Simmer longer for deeper flavor.
Chili tastes better the next day.
