Description
Creamy Southern Cheese Grits with cheddar and Parmesan, perfect for breakfast or a side dish.
Ingredients
1 cup stone-ground grits
4 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Optional: chopped green onions or paprika
Instructions
1. Bring water and salt to boil.
2. Gradually whisk in grits.
3. Simmer 20–25 minutes, stirring frequently.
4. Stir in butter and cheeses until melted.
5. Season with black pepper.
6. Spoon into bowls and garnish.
7. Serve warm.
Notes
Use milk for extra creaminess.
Add smoked cheddar or other cheeses.
Mix in bacon or vegetables.
Reheat gently with a splash of milk.
