Description
Candied Pumpkin Slices are sweet, glossy pumpkin pieces simmered in syrup until tender. A festive fall treat perfect for snacking, gifting, or garnishing desserts.
Ingredients
1 small sugar pumpkin (about 4 cups sliced pumpkin)
3 cups granulated sugar
2 cups water
1 cinnamon stick
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Additional sugar for coating (optional)
Instructions
1. Peel pumpkin, remove seeds, and slice into thin wedges or strips.
2. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a simmer until sugar dissolves.
3. Add pumpkin slices and cook gently over medium-low heat until translucent and tender, about 30–40 minutes.
4. Carefully remove pumpkin slices and place on a wire rack to dry slightly.
5. For extra sweetness, roll slices in sugar while still tacky, or leave them glazed for a glossy finish.
6. Let dry for several hours before storing in an airtight container.
Notes
Use sugar pumpkins or pie pumpkins for best results.
Add orange peel or fresh ginger to the syrup for extra flavor depth.
Works as a garnish for cakes, cheesecakes, or even cocktails.
