Description

These homemade Buttermilk Waffles are golden, crisp on the outside, and perfectly fluffy inside. They make the ultimate breakfast or brunch dish, easy to prepare and always delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

2 cups buttermilk

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease it with butter or oil spray.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.

4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Small lumps are fine.

5. Pour about ½ cup of batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden and crisp.

6. Transfer cooked waffles to a wire rack and repeat with remaining batter.

7. Serve warm with butter, syrup, or fresh fruit.

Notes

Let waffles cool on a wire rack to keep them crisp.

You can freeze leftover waffles for up to 2 months. Toast to reheat for best texture.

For extra flavor, mix in cinnamon, nutmeg, or lemon zest.
