Description
A cozy, cinnamon-spiced breakfast casserole made in the slow cooker. Perfect for holidays, weekends, or lazy mornings!
Ingredients
1 loaf (about 10 cups) day-old French bread, cubed
5 large eggs
2 cups milk
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
½ cup raisins
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Pinch of salt
Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
2. Grease the inside of your crockpot with butter or cooking spray. Add half the bread cubes, half the apples, and half the raisins. Repeat the layers.
3. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and press down gently so it soaks evenly. Drizzle melted butter on top.
4. Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or until the center is set and edges are golden.
5. Serve warm with maple syrup and enjoy!
